Women declare they have been barred from Bryan Adams’ Qatar live performance for dressed in headscarves – National


Dozens of feminine concertgoers in Qatar are claiming discrimination once they have been denied access to a Bryan Adams live performance in Doha on Wednesday evening.

At least 40 ladies have been refused admission from the Grand Hyatt Doha via safety as a result of they have been dressed in headscarves. The nation has strict regulations banning ladies dressed in headscarves or “traditional clothing” from getting into venues serving alcohol.

The banned concertgoers have been left status outdoor, and plenty of complained that they weren’t given any advance understand via the live performance organizers or the lodge. Many of the ladies and their buddies took to social media to specific their ideas on what they declare is overt discrimination.

Tunisian expat Iram Kassis advised Gulf Business mag she was once requested to go away the live performance lineup as a result of her sister was once dressed in a scarf.

“We [are] shocked by that, and asked to meet with a responsible person to clarify this issue, especially [since] it was not mentioned in the terms and conditions of the website [when we] purchased the tickets,” she stated.

“Traditional dress” in Qatar generally approach a black headdress (a shayla) and a black get dressed (an abaya) for girls.

At the time of writing, neither Bryan Adams nor the Grand Hyatt Doha has issued a remark concerning the alleged discrimination. The lodge answered to a couple of tweets, pronouncing it might lift the worries “with the associated department” and live performance organizers.
