#GlobalNews: « Janet Jackson refuses to cancel Houston concert – National »


Janet Jackson is taking her tour to Houston and is refusing to cancel despite the floods from Hurricane Harvey, which devastated the Gulf Coast, claiming at least 31 lives and flooding portions of Texas cities.

She revealed her plans to continue on with her Sept. 9 show at Houston’s Toyota Center during her rehearsals on Wednesday night in Louisiana.

“Hey you guys, I’m backstage in Louisiana and I’m at rehearsal about to kick off my tour and our next show is in Houston,” she began her Twitter video.

“I know there’s been rumours on whether we were gonna do the show in Houston or we weren’t going to do the show in Houston. I’m here to tell you that we’re going to do the show in Houston.”

The Feedback singer said she would also have something “special” planned for the Houston residents who were affected by Hurricane Harvey.

“We’re gonna roll in early ’cause we want to visit some of the shelters and not just visit some of the shelters, we want to do something special for the victims. So I will see you Friday,” Jackson said.

Hurricane Harvey struck the southeastern Texas coast as a Category 4 hurricane on Aug. 25. Thousands of Texas residents sought shelter after the hurricane.

Floodwaters overtook entire neighbourhoods, damaging at least 49,000 homes in Texas, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Many celebrities including Drake and Kevin Hart have donated thousands of dollars to the state of Texas.
