#GlobalNews: “SNL skewers Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore – National”

Saturday Night Live took aim at Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore over his allegations of sexual misconduct with teenage girls in this week’s opening sketch.

With U.S. President Donald Trump on tour in Asia, Moore is called to the White House to meet with Vice-President Mike Pence.

After the introduction, Pence says to Moore, “Roy, I don’t have to tell you that the Senate hangs in the balance. We’re trying to pass the tax reform plan this year to bring Mr. Trump’s list of big legislative accomplishments to one.

“We can’t lose your seat this December.”

Pence notes Moore’s relationship with former White House Advisor Steve Bannon before stating,  “Voters in Alabama will never elect someone who’s had relations with a minor.”

To which Moore asks, “You sure about that?”

Pence isn’t sure but he is sure the Republicans can’t take that chance.

“Mike look, its’ all lies. I’m not that guy,” Moore claims.

“Perhaps Roy but it’s hard to convince people that you are not into young girls when you dress like Woody from Toy Story,” Pence then says.

Moore then blames the media and notes how new sexual harassment allegations are coming up on a daily basis.

Pence insists that he “do the right thing”.

“Alright, if everyone thinks I did it, I’ll marry her,” Moore responds.

Pence again pushes for Moore to drop out of the race to replace Jeff Sessions in the U.S. Senate.

“C’mon sir. Do we have to do it this way? Can’t you call the boss?” Moore asks.

Sorry, I’m not going to call Vladmir Putin about this.

Pence leaves the room to give Moore a chance to consider drop out. As soon as the vice-president leaves, Jeff Sessions rolls out of a sideboard, ready to provide advice to his fellow Alabaman.

“Jeff Sessions, what are you doing here?” Moore asks.

“Doing what I always do, cooking up nightmares for children,” Sessions responds.
