On Friday night’s Celebrity Big Brother episode, two celebs were sent packing, leaving the final five to duke it out for the title of the first-ever (American) CBB champion.

Fan favourite Brandi Glanville of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame and actor/singer James Maslow were sent home in the series’ first double eviction. Only five of the original houseguests remain: ex-Trump staffer Omarosa Manigault-Newman, E! host Ross Mathews, Sugar Ray frontman Mark McGrath, Miss Colombia 2014 Ariadna Gutiérrez and Broadway performer Marissa Jaret Winokur.

At the start of the episode, host Julie Chen mused that “there are more alliances in the house than there are days left in the game.” Indeed, with an episode on Saturday night and an episode on Sunday night, there isn’t much time left, and the houseguests are so entwined with one another in various alliances that it’s tough to tell who’ll emerge the victor.

“It’s beginning to feel like there’s no loyalty here,” said Glanville, who was ultimately correct. Up on the block with Gutiérrez for the first eviction, the tide slowly turned against Glanville. Gutiérrez won the power of veto and took herself off the block, and she was swiftly replaced with Winokur.

Glanville, while clutching her ubiquitous wine glass, sealed her fate prior to the eviction by running her mouth off at Maslow and Winokur. She was evicted by a 3-1 vote.

In the second half of the episode, it looked like Omarosa was the new target for the house. That plan never came to fruition as she won a nail-biter of a head-of-household competition, becoming the HoH for a crucial eviction.

Omarosa nominated Mathews and Winokur, but Mathews won the next power of veto, and of course he immediately took himself off. Omarosa then betrayed Maslow’s trust and put him up on the block as a replacement nominee.

A visibly irritated Maslow reluctantly went up, knowing his fate was already sealed (Maslow has been one of the strongest competitors on CBB, and it would be a foolish move to keep him in the house any longer).

Maslow, clad in what looked to be gym clothes, clearly didn’t anticipate being sent home. He also rued his lack of solid alliance with powerhouse Omarosa.

“I wasn’t going to make it easy on them,” he said to Chen after his eviction. “I avoided winning for as long as I could, but I tried to win today and planned on winning moving forward… I think I went wrong by not really committing to the deal with Omarosa. If I had her trust a little bit more, she probably wouldn’t have put me up right now.”

You can watch the final episodes of ‘CBB’ on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET/PT and Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Global.
