Penelope Cruz says she and her husband Javier Bardem have been paid equally for the Cannes Film Festival opener Everybody Knows.

In the movie, the Spanish-language debut of Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, Cruz and Bardem play former lovers coping with the kidnapping of a daughter.

Asked Wednesday at a press convention in Cannes in the event that they have been paid the identical, Cruz replied, “Actually, yes.”

The couple, who first appeared collectively within the 1992 movie Jamon Jamonhave related working types, Cruz continued. For occasion, they “don’t take the characters home at the end of the day.”

“It’s not something we plan on doing every two years,” she stated.

Shortly after Everybody Knows opened the Cannes Film Festival, Focus Features acquired the movie. The specialty division of Universal Pictures stated Wednesday that it’s going to distribute it within the U.S. and far of the world.

Farhadi has received two Academy Awards for greatest international language movie, for A Separation and The Salesman

Producers stated they may also goal for the Oscars with Everybody Knows.
