Netflix says that it has reached a take care of Barack and Michelle Obama to provide materials for the streaming service, giving the previous first household a strong media platform to form their post-White House legacy.

Netflix mentioned Monday, in a tweet, that the previous U.S. president and first woman will produce movies and collection for the service, doubtlessly together with scripted and unscripted collection, documentaries and options.

Netflix chief content material officer Ted Sarandos mentioned that the Obamas are uniquely positioned to find and spotlight tales of people that make a distinction of their communities.

“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience,” Barack Obama mentioned in an announcement.

“That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix — we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”

Terms of the multi-year deal weren’t disclosed and Netflix didn’t say when Obama-produced content material shall be launched or give any particular content material plans.

Netflix, which has 125 million subscribers worldwide, has aggressively pursued content material acquisitions lately because it strikes to compete with conventional Hollywood studios for movies and authentic TV programming.

The former president not too long ago appeared as a visitor on David Letterman’s Netflix speak present.
