Canada will be part of the U.S. and Mexico as hosts of the 2026 World Cup.

In a vote Wednesday on the FIFA Congress in Moscow, member associations voted in favour of the North American bid over that of Morocco.

The present blueprint requires Canada and Mexico to stage 10 video games every, with the U.S. to host 60. But that’s not carved in stone.

« Hosting a FIFA World Cup is an extraordinary honour and privilege, » stated Steven Reed, president of Canada Soccer and co-chair of the United bid. « Canada, Mexico, and the United States are ready to welcome the world to North America and serve as stewards of the largest FIFA World Cup in history. Our vision is of a world of opportunity for our candidate host cities and for the global football community. »

Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal would function Canadian host cities for the boys’s soccer showcase, expanded to 48 groups for the 2026 match.

Morocco has now misplaced 5 bid campaigns.

More to come back
