#CBC: “Rick Campanelli departs ET Canada after 12 years – Entertainment”
Big changes are coming to ET Canada, as the entertainment news show announced Friday that three long-time fixtures will be departing before the program’s 13th season begins this fall.
Rick Campanelli, co-host for 12 years on the show, “will be leaving ET Canada when his contract comes to a close later this summer” Global said in a media release. He will continue to appear on the show until August.
Campanelli joined ET Canada after leaving MuchMusic in 2005. It was at Much where Campanelli earned his enduring moniker “Rick the temp,” after he won a stint at the station in an audience contest.
He went on to become, for a time, the face of MuchMusic during its formative years. He was a video jockey, writer and eventually a radio host.
“We are grateful for his dedication to the show and wish him the best,” the statement added.
Also leaving is the show’s West Coast reporter, Erin Cebula, and Natasha Gargiulo, its Montreal correspondent. Both have been with the program since its inception 12 years ago.
Cebula will focus on hosting and producing lifestyle and entertainment content in Vancouver. Gargiulo will stay in the television industry as well, the release said.
Both women are set to remain on the show until the end of the month.
The statement did not include any further details relating to the show’s on-air personalities, including co-host Cheryl Hickey and correspondents Roz Weston and Sangita Patel.
