Even with robots, there may be such a factor as having too many cooks within the kitchen.

Elon Musk, the billionaire co-founder and CEO of Tesla, stated the electrical carmaker’s over-reliance on automation is partly in charge for the delays which have plagued the manufacturing of its Model Three sedan.

“We had this crazy, complex network of conveyor belts … And it was not working, so we got rid of that whole thing,” Musk instructed CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King throughout a tour of Tesla’s Silicon Valley manufacturing facility.

The answer? Calling in additional employees.

Caught in what Musk referred to as “manufacturing hell,” Tesla has fallen woefully in need of its preliminary objective of producing 5,000 Model Three autos per week by the top of 2017. The firm has since pushed out that manufacturing goal to mid-2018, however many doubt that it will likely be in a position to make even that deadline, because it nonetheless hasn’t reached 2,500 automobiles per week.

Still, Musk stated he now feels assured the corporate is near overcoming the problems which have hobbled the Model Three manufacturing.

“We’ll probably have, I don’t know, a three- or four-fold increase in Model 3 output in the second quarter,” he stated.

For now, although, buyers seem skeptical. On March 27, credit standing company Moody’s downgraded Tesla’s company score citing a “significant shortfall” within the Model Three manufacturing charge and including that the corporate was tight on cash.

That’s simply one of many newest complications for Tesla after it issued a voluntary recall of 123,000 of its older Model S autos and is dealing with the fallout from a deadly crash involving considered one of its autos that was utilizing the agency’s semi-autonomous driving system.
