For the past few days, our country has been experiencing an explosion of violence in several neighborhoods.
These unbearable images, in Dijon and Nice, against a backdrop of deleterious communitarianism, show hooded individuals, carrying heavy friends, sowing terror and imposing their law, with the greatest impunity.
At a time when our country is going through an unprecedented crisis, we cannot add to it a climate mixing division with chaos.
In this context, your silence. Prime Minister, sounds like an admission of guilty helplessness. Even as your interior and justice ministers have embodied in recent days an unprecedented weakening of state authority, even as 14,000 detainees were released during confinement, endangering order public, you must unequivocally reaffirm your full support for our police.
Your mobilization for the municipal campaign in Le Havre does not in any way exempt you from your role as guarantor of the security of our fellow citizens and of national cohesion.
The Republicans solemnly call on you to respond to the challenges and finally take strong measures:
– expulsion of foreigners at the origin of these abuses
– exemplary prison sentences
– suspension of social assistance for troublemakers
– and all measures to restore republican order
Our political family cannot resolve to see the values of the Republic flouted and public authority trampled on.
Please accept, Prime Minister, the assurance of my highest consideration.
Christian Jacob
President of the Republicans
